In particular, the company has developed a first-class reputation for its work on surgical titles. tfm has been established for ten years and is proud to be recognised for publishing quality titles from a range of eminent authors.
The company continues to grow its academic range in the areas of vascular medicine, vascular surgery, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics and trauma, plastic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, urology and anaesthesia. We intend to make these areas our major focus for the future and have already commissioned a number of new titles to ensure a full publishing programme for 2010 and 2011.
The expansion of our 'evidence' range has continued with the addition of 'The Evidence for Plastic Surgery'. The substantial new 'Clinical Surgery Made Easy' and 'Pearce's Surgical Companion', while established bestsellers like 'Top Knife' and 'Aphorisms and Quotations for the Surgeon' continue to sell extremely well. We have also commissioned a brand new series on the evidence-based management of various disorders, the first two of which are 'Evidence-based Management of Lipid Disorders' and 'Evidence-based Management of Hypertension'. Forthcoming titles in this series will cover heart failure, diabetes, stroke and arrhythmias.
Our books continue to receive critical acclaim and win awards. We receive many outstanding reviews in mainstream journals such as The Lancet, the BMJ, the British Journal of Surgery, the Annals of Surgery, JAMA and the World Journal of Surgery. We were delighted when 'The Evidence for Urology' was awarded first prize in the Urology category of the 2005 BMA Medical Book Competition. In 2007 'The Evidence for Vascular Surgery' was highly commended in the Surgery category and 'Pioneers in Surgical Gastroenterology' was commended in the Basis of Medicine category. In 2008 'Vascular Access Simplified' was commended.
